The annual Reston Citizens Association election
for its Board of Directors is again gearing up!
2014-15 has been a very eventful year for Reston
and RCA. We had Reston Master Plan Phase
II planning process that got underway in the middle of the year and RCA
actively participated in it and helped the community stay abreast of the
developments.
We had other meaningful issues that came up
during the year such as potential Lake Anne Fellowship House redevelopment and
continuing issues like Reston National Golf Course or Fairfax County Public
Library system or an indoor recreation center in Reston.
This upcoming year is going to be another
exciting one for RCA, as we continue to focus on educating and engaging
the community and representing their voice.
If you want to take an active role in the future of Reston,
please consider running for a seat on our board!
There are five seats up for election for the
2015-16 year, one seat for Town Center/Lake Anne/Tall Oaks District
Director and four At-Large Director positions.
To run for Town
Center/Lake Anne/Tall Oaks District Director seat, you must live in SMALL TAX
DISTRICT 5, be a Reston resident, and vote in designated precincts/polling
places within Reston districts. Those
precincts for the Town Center/Lake Anne/Tall Oaks District are Reston I, Reston
II, Reston III or Cameron Glen Precinct and the corresponding polling places are
Forest Edge Elementary or Lake Anne Elementary schools. The elected director
for this position will serve for one year.
For the At-Large Director position, you may live
anywhere in SMALL TAX DISTRICT 5. All of the At-Large Directors will serve
3-year terms. That’s it. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve lived in Reston
for 30 days or 30 years, whether you’re a homeowner or a renter, what political
party you belong to (RCA is non-partisan), or whether you’re younger or older
(as long as you’re at least 18).
